The Hollercast Episode 001- The History of The Holler with Josh and Kevin

The History of The Holler

Josh is the Chief Vision Officer at The Holler Creative and he gets the show rolling by sharing a bit about his background. He was raised in Corbin and began his college career thinking that he wanted to do something in healthcare. By the time he graduated from Eastern Kentucky University, he realized that healthcare wasn’t the industry for him. He began searching for a way to start his own business.

Kevin is the company’s Chief Business Officer. He revealed that some of his family history is tied to the decline of the coal mining industry in Appalachia, which had some influence in the creation of The Holler’s mission. He studied at The University of the Cumberlands before going on to get a PhD from the University of Kentucky.

The pair of entrepreneurs met one day at a bible study in a coffee shop where they bonded over similar interests and goals. As they got to know each other more, they decided that they wanted to start a business together. It took them a while to figure out exactly what their business would do, though.

They found their digital marketing niche as they were helping their church plant a new campus. Promoting a new campus and connecting to the community helped them recognize the skills that they had and the needs that they could meet.

Now, The Holler Creative works to bring hope and opportunity back to the Appalachian region in a variety of different ways, and they’re just getting started!
